In order to give the dark brown Billy bookcase from Ikea a bit more interest, I added some grasscloth wallpaper to the back. All I had to do was remove the shelves, measure the back panel, cut the wallpaper, and hang it. I cheated at the final step. I don’t have any wallpaper paste. I didn’t feel like going to the store to get wallpaper paste. My solution? Packing tape, baby! It is holding fine for now. If it doesn’t continue to stay put, I’ll go get some real paste. For now, I’m calling it good enough.
I’m happy with the result. I scored the paper on ebay for super cheap, so the project cost almost nothing. I think it really gives the bookcase a unique look. I need to add a few more books and accessories, but, hey, it’s a work in progress, right?
